From November 27th to 29th, 2024, the DigiTwins4PEDs consortium gathered for its second in-person meeting at the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Vienna. This hybrid event brought together project partners from across Europe to review progress, discuss key work packages, and strategize for the months ahead.
The meeting began with an overview of the project’s current status and upcoming milestones, followed by focused discussions on pivotal areas, including the integration of urban digital twins with energy flexibilization strategies, co-creation processes with stakeholders, and the development of living lab concepts for case studies in Vienna, Stuttgart, Rotterdam, and Wroclaw.
Highlights of the meeting included:
- Stakeholder Engagement: Representatives from the City of Vienna joined the consortium for collaborative discussions on urban digital twin implementation and its societal impact.
- AIT Tour: Attendees toured AIT’s City Intelligence Lab, gaining insights into cutting-edge research tools supporting urban innovation.
- Group Discussions: Parallel sessions explored technical data pipelines, user interface development for the geoportal, and citizen engagement strategies.
The consortium also reviewed dissemination and exploitation plans, ensuring alignment with the project's objectives to create positive energy districts and support the energy transition in urban neighborhoods.
In addition to structured sessions, the meeting provided opportunities for networking and informal discussions, fostering stronger collaboration among partners. The event concluded with a roadmap for the next stages of the project, setting the foundation for continued progress.
The DigiTwins4PEDs team looks forward to building on these outcomes in future meetings and continuing to deliver innovative solutions for sustainable urban transformation.
